The Monroe City Council adopted the Riverside District Master Plan in June, 2021. Read the plan on the Project Documents page.
Purpose
The Monroe Riverside District Master Plan project seeks to create a framework and implementable actions to help Monroe continue to improve its vibrant civic and commercial center. The heart of this project is the community’s relationship to the Long Tom River and creating opportunities to connect the river – physically and conceptually - to the commercial and civic uses along the Highway 99.
The project intends to encourage a variety of businesses, housing, open space, and public uses that support downtown vibrancy and targeted job creation. The plan seeks to create connections to the Long Tom River in a way that supports new economic development, creates better multi-modal connections, and leverages the City’s location in the heart of South Benton County. The Riverside District Master Plan is funded through a State Transportation and Growth Management (TGM) grant.
Vision
We aspire to have a vibrancy and vitality within the Riverside District enhancing it as an asset and source of pride for the whole community, as well as a significant attraction for visitors. This district will take advantage of visual and physical access to the Long Tom River, traffic on the highway, proximity to larger cities, and the needs and desires of the Monroe community.
